In November of 2018, I was invited by the Rhapsody Project to teach kids about not only my process but how my environment, heritage, and culture impacts my work. We talked about art’s relationship with music and how collaboration can create unique experiences for the listener and viewer.
During the spring and summer of 2018, I carried my art to Seattle Center almost everyday to share with the public. I wanted to demystify what it means to be a modern day working artist. I shared my work on my own terms and reached an audience who may or may not have the means to go to an art museum or gallery. I worked next to lifelong buskers and vagabonds, pedicab drivers, and security officers. I met people from China, India, Canada and throughout the United States. It taught me how to respond to in the moment questions, praise and criticisms. It showed me that people crave a deviation from their norms. It was physically and mentally demanding and I would definitely do it again!
